SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING - What is single stream?

  • As of July 1st, 2009, all recycling materials can be co-mingled in one container. Outagamie County now has single stream recycling. See the link below for the County web site.
  • Recyclable materials must be placed at the curb in a reusable container by 6 a.m. DO NOT PLACE MATERIALS OUT FOR COLLECTION IN PLASTIC BAGS. Reusable containers must be between 15 and 33 gallons in size with handles on the outside of them. TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF THE COLLECTOR, ALL CONTAINERS MUST WEIGH LESS THAN 50 POUNDS WHEN SET AT THE CURB. Container must also be marked with an Outagamie County Recycling sticker. To obtain these stickers call (920)757-5151 x 0
  • Shredded paper can be recycled. However, keeping it from blowing away can be a challenge. For simple handling, place it in a brown paper bag and tape or staple the bag shut, and then place in with the rest of your paper recycling.
  • Be sure recycling containers are placed in an area that is easily accessible to the collector. DO NOT place recycling bins on top or behind snow banks.
  • Containers may need to be secured on windy days.
  • Paper can be set out for recycling in paper bags, a cardboard box no larger than 3' X 3' X 1' or a reusable container which is between 15 and 33 gallons with handles on the outside. Cardboard should be brokenn down to a 3' X 3' or less size and can be bundled together with twine or tape. DO NOT USE PLASTIC BAGS.
